You wouldn't want your meat to spoil so why would you let your cape spoil?
- Avoid dragging the animal on the hide to prevent hair loss
- Remove as much meat and fat from the hide as possible
- Fold the hide flesh to flesh (with hair on the outside)
- Keep your hide as cool as possible, as soon as possible.
